Bad Windsheim is a former free imperial city in Middle Franconia with a beautiful historic old town. It is known for its brine springs and became a spa town in 1961. Since 1982 it is home to the Franconian open-air museum (Fränkisches Freilandmuseum) with more than 100 historic Franconian buildings.
