Torgau is a city in northern Saxony. Under Ernest of Saxony, Hartenfels Castle became the main residence of the Ernestine line of the Wettins and Torgau the political centre of the Reformation. The castle is located directly on the Elbe and is the best-preserved castle building from the early Renaissance.
