Melsungen is a town in Hesse near Kassel. The town was first mentioned in 802 and later belonged to the Abbey of Fulda, then to Thuringia, afterwards to Mainz and lastly to Hesse. Today Melsungen is well-known for its beautiful timber-framed old town centre with a magnificent town hall and a castle.
